    Welcome to the world of photography! We know that it can be very daunting when you are just starting off. Why are there so many camera models? What does all this complicated jargon mean? Why are my photographs not looking as good as I hoped?

    14 years ago, we decided to simplify your first steps into photography. Thus was born Darter’s Photography Workshop for Beginners. This weekend workshop is designed to help you know your camera intimately. Learn the terminology and how it impacts your photograph. Understand composition guidelines and the effective use of light to convey your story better. And, internalize these concepts through assignments and get them reviewed under the guidance of your photography mentor.

    Photography is a lifelong journey. This workshop will arm you with the skills to start this journey confidently. Your photographs will be appreciated. And you’ll be part of a group of enthusiastic photographers with whom you can discuss photography, exchange ideas and travel around the world.

Is this workshop for you?

This workshop is a great opportunity to get started off on photography in a guided manner. No prior photography experience is needed to join this workshop.

This workshop is for you if you tick at least one of the following boxes:

    • You have an interest in photography but you are wondering how to get started.
    • You have a camera with you (or buying one soon) but you don’t have a complete understanding of the many controls and terminologies.
    • You’re keen to take better photographs and improve your photography skills.
    • Photography seems to be the right choice for your new creative hobby.

You will be required to bring your digital camera to the workshop. An advanced camera or a Mirrorless/DSLR camera is NOT a prerequisite, though having one helps get better practical insights. Take a look at our course content to understand what you learn during the sessions.

Workshop Price

The workshop price is Rs. 6,950/- per person.

The workshop price includes:

    • Workshop classroom sessions under the guidance of Darter Photography Expert
    • Lunch and tea/snacks for both days of the workshop
    • Digital Photography Handbook (in PDF format), covering the workshop topics, that’ll serve as a reference guide through your photography journey

You would be required to bring your digital camera to the workshop. Though an advanced camera or a Mirrorless/DSLR camera is NOT a prerequisite, having one can give you better practical insights into camera controls.

Cancellation Policy:
– If cancelled (by email notification) at least 3 days before the workshop, workshop fee can be utilized for
subsequent workshops (we plan to conduct one weekend workshop every month in Bangalore) or any other
Darter Photography events within 6 months of the date of this workshop. No cash refund option available.
– If cancelled (by email notification) within 3 days to 1 day before start of the workshop, 50% of workshop fee can be used for subsequent Darter Photography events. No cash refund option available.
– Workshop fee forfeited on no-show.

Topics Covered

This workshop given you a foundation to photography, where you’ll be introduced to the technical and artistic aspects of photography. Learn about the concepts of photography, what the different modes of a camera mean, how to compose a photograph so that it catches the eye and how to post-process it to reflect reality or make it artistic. So the next time you click a photograph, you’ll create a memory to cherish.

The workshop is conducted as a carefully-designed balance of theory and practice. At the end of the Day 1, you’ll receive a Photography Handbook (in PDF format) that summarizes the workshop learning and serves as a reference guide through your photography journey.

      • Camera modes and making the best out of your camera – Program Mode, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual modes

    Workshop Schedule

    Day 1 (Saturday) We will begin the workshop at 9:30AM with classroom sessions at the venue. We’ll go through the concepts of photography, interspersed with practice sessions. We’ll have breaks for tea and lunch. First day’s session ends by 3:00 PM.

    Day 2 (Sunday) We will begin the workshop at 9:30AM with classroom sessions at the venue. We’ll review the photos from the previous day’s assignment, followed by a couple of sessions on photography. The second day’s session ends around 3:00PM.
