I have been visiting Bhutan almost every year, and one important stopover during the journey is a morning at the 10,000 feet high Dochula Pass. The pass can be cold, windy and I shiver before the sun comes up even in the middle of summer. What unfolds with the sun’s arrival is always unpredictable. I have seen absolutely clear days when the sun shines over distant snow-peaks and gives us a glimpse of the glory of the Himalayas. And then there are days when a thick fog takes over the landscape leaving us behind a white blanket. There are many more days of nature’s splendid displays when clouds, fog and sun rays decorate the landscape in their multiple moods, making each morning different from the other, making me want to return to see yet another beautiful morning like no other. When I haven’t had enough of those mornings passing through the pass, I have decided to stay on for a few days and yet, haven’t had enough. Here is a collection of images from the beautiful pass, where I will continue to return again and again.
