I went on a commissioned assignment to photograph Varanasi with a mobile-phone camera. The city’s streets and the river-front are so visually rich that I had no difficulty in coming out with a wide variety of colourful and interesting images. Here is a collection of photographs I made with a Xiaomi Note 3’s camera in Varanasi earlier this year.

Another classic image of Varanasi is its ubiquitous boatmen, who are always available to take you along the river.
Migratory gulls float on the Ganga, sharing space with travellers on boats who have risen early to enjoy the sunrise.
